When I interact with the students, I frequently face one common issue i.e. feeling by the students that they are always right.During the start of their career it is very necessary for the students to understand few things -

1. To understand the importance of listening - lot of things are said about the importance of listening, but students/ especially fresh graduates does not understand the importance of listening. One common thing which I observe about the fresh graduates is there assumption about their knowledge. I am not saying that they does not have the knowledge but the way they present themselves and tries to give the feeling to other that they are more knowledge the dangerous situation arises. This is especially with students who are fresh graduates and are placed. such students never tries to listen to their faculty members as they feel they are placed in a better company then their faculty, they tries to impose their words in the mouth of faculty/seniors, they have their own logics, no respect for system, processes, rules, regulation, very dangerous situation. They need to understand that Corporate World is not like this, in the initial period they need to follow their superiors, their guidelines and company procedures. If not, only God can help them in their career.

2. Respect for their seniors - these fresher’s, I always experience does not have respect for their seniors at their Institute from where they have done their PGP/PG. The simple reason, I feel is their superiority complex. Again I repeat, this is majority with those students who are placed. By seniors I mean, Principal/Dean/Director, Faculty Members, Staff members, Administrative staff and even their peers who are unplaced or have got placement in small company. Professional life is brutal, professional culture is followed by all the organizations around the globe and if you are not ready to sacrifice your ego then life will be really difficulty.

3. Ego - one of the major problems with students of today. Don't say something sarcastic to them, don't say truth to them, they believe that they know everything. Ego needs to be brought down, dear student; otherwise professionally you will be killed.

Well, I am starting to write the Blog. To some extent it is very difficult, the simple reason is there are people who follows you, keeps a check on you, admires you, hates you and some other things.

In my blog I will concentrate on my learnings as an academician. I have been involved in teaching to nearly all type of students at school level class 7th to 12th, graduation students, PG students and some financial training to working professionals. I believe some of my experience and learnings will be helpful for students.
